EPISODE 17: Handling Criticism Well

Do you think we’ll get criticized for this episode?  Criticism really comes down to LOVE. Yes, we believe this is a love issue, both in being willing to speak and not to speak in other’s lives. There are two dimensions to love, both the method and the motivation behind what we say and how we say it.

“If compliments go to your head, criticism will cut to your heart.”

Have you ever been confronted by a friend in love? You probably were hurt, but it also may have increased your appreciation of that person and if done correctly, deepened your relationship.

A true friend will care enough about you to tell you what you need to hear. And don’t we want to be that type of friend?

In this episode we discuss healthy, and godly ways to go about both receiving and giving criticism. We hope you tune in and share your thoughts with us on social media!

“I don’t want to shut off my sphere of influence with people who already agree with me. When we no longer start to desire voices we trust but are different, we can no longer trust our decisions. I think it’s critical we continue to listen to voices we trust even though they disagree with us.”

In this episode we discuss:

  • Living in integrity.
  • The method and motivation that should be behind loving criticism.
  • How we should be giving and receiving criticism!

  • Psalm 28:6-9
  • Romans 12:3

EPISODE 12: Faith, Fame, & Country Music: an interview with Gabby Barrett & Cade Foehner

We first connected with Cade and Gabby on twitter, one dinner invitation later, and the rest was history! This couple has an incredible love story, and are both out of this world talented.

Gabby Barrett’s song “I Hope” hit #1 for Country Music, and double platinum! Now the two of them are continuing their journey post the American Idol tour with a brand new album and a little one on the way.

Excerpt from Gabby’s song “Got Me” with Shane & Shane:

Finally found the kind of man who stays

Like he promised, like he said on that day

There’s never been a sweeter love I’ve known

When I left him, he never left me alone

Nothing can separate me from amazing grace

Jesus, you’re all that I need

If everything falls apart and I don’t know where to start

You bring me back to my knees

‘Cause you’re good

And a God who’s got me

Who’s got me

When I was stuck inside my sin and shame

You pursued me though I spit in your face

Nothing I could ever do to change

‘Til you change me (’til you came), ’til you died in my place

Nothing can separate me from amazing grace

Jesus, you’re all that I need

If everything falls apart and I don’t know where to start

You bring me back to my knees

‘Cause you’re good

And a God who’s got me

Who’s got me

We hope you listen in to our conversation with them about teamwork, what behind the scenes looks like, and their faith journey amidst success!
